Caribou County CLG Oral History Project

In 1989 , Elaine Johnson conducted three interviews for the Caribou County Certified Local Government Grant program (Caribou County CLG).  This project documented several generations of the Kunz family, starting with Johannes Kunz who brought his eight sons and two daughters from Switzerland to Idaho. Narrators talked about the family's dairy and cheese-making business.

Caribou County was the last county created in Idaho on February 11, 1919.  The interviews detailed the origin of the county name and other information about the region.

The following interviews were included in the project:

  • OH 831     Kunz, Jack
  • OH 832     Kunz, Denzil
  • OH 833     Kunz, Dan
