Buhl Dairy Barns Oral History Project

In 1982, Madeline Buckendorf conducted four interviews on Buhl dairy barns for the Idaho State Historical Society, as part of a site survey project. These interviews discussed barn design and construction, dairy farming, and cheese making. Narrators talked about changes in farming and the ways barns were used, from the 1920s through the time of the interviews.

The city of Buhl is located west of Twin Falls, on the Snake River Plain. The city was founded on April 17, 1906, and was named after Frank H. Buhl, an Eastern investor who helped to finance major irrigation projects.

The following interviews were included in the project:

  • OH 864     Schaefer, Eldor
  • OH 865     Maxwell, Joseph R.
  • OH 866     Watt, Bill
  • OH 867     Sandmeyer, Ted
