Oral History

Who We Are and What We Do:

Oral historians gather memories through recorded interviews. Since 1978, the Idaho Oral History Center has been actively engaged in collecting, preserving, presenting, and interpreting the voices of Idahoans and Idaho communities. A full-time oral historian, a half-time oral history assistant, and an intrepid group of volunteers and student interns work to bring the voices and sounds of Idaho to you. We do research, conduct interviews, take care of an ever-growing collection of audio and video recordings (now numbering over 2500 interviews), and provide assistance and information to researchers and oral historians around the state.
