On September 18th, 2008, the tenth annual Esto Perpetua Awards will be presented at the Idaho State Historical Society Annual Meeting at the Idaho Historical Museum, 610 North Julia Davis Drive, Boise. Each year, these awards honor individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to the preservation of Idaho history through professional accomplishments, public service, volunteerism, or philanthropy. The September 4 & 5, 2008 symposium, Modernism in the Northwest, sponsored by Preservation Idaho and the ISHS, proposes to educate attendees on this trendy topic by bringing national and local experts to Boise. These speakers, representing the public and private sectors, include the National Park Service and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Masonic fraternities have played an important role in Idaho's communities since gold rush days. This exhibit traces the mysterious origins of the Freemasons and their vital link to Idaho history from territorial times through statehood and into today. Enjoy rarely seen folk art and artifacts from lodges around the state and increase your understanding of this "society with secrets."
